◆The key to play darts well◆

1. Your play-style

 Stance:

At first, I stand sideways when throwing the darts. But since it make my body feel painful and restrict my movement to some degree. Therefore, I changed the degree a bit rather than completely sideways when throwing the darts. After some adjustment so that I can throw the darts smoothly it resulted in my stance now.

 Grip:

At the time when I just started in darts I have no idea about it but throwing using only 3 fingers resulted in an unexpectedly smooth throwing. Hold it a bit behind from the centre, then throw it. It is more relaxing and results in a smooth throwing. To make the place of the grip same every time, before “set” I will use my ring finger to adjust my grip.

 Throwing:

I always throw the darts by having the image of stretching out the hand towards the aim straightly. I can do it easily and naturally every time. There are a lot of people mimicking the movement of professionals but it is best to take it as reference only and find your own best and natural movement/style when throwing the darts.

 Aiming:

Coordinate between the eye and the hand. Throw the darts in a way that you can track the flight path of the darts. (I hold it right under the right eye) With this, if the darts is off target you will be able to know the reason. Use both of the eye(left eye on the target, right eye on the darts) to measure the distances.

What are the steps you do when you approach the throwline?

All are for the purpose of relaxing. Before I approach the throw-line I will relax my body before I proceed to throw the darts. Before I hold the darts too, I will swing my arm around loosely to relax my muscle. By doing that it will result in smoother throwing.

2. Your practice focus point (stance, grip, throwing etc.)

The focus point on practice will be different each time. It is be because of the body condition and the feeling of my fingers will be different everyday too. I make adjustment to the practice/training program based on my condition of that day. The most important thing I think of will be the natural movement. Only natural movement can demonstrate my real strength. While on the basic of movement there are no restriction like “you cannot move like this or that” at all. Movement that yourself feel comfortable will be the best.

3.What will be your advice for C-flight, B-flight, A-flight player?

The only way to improve your own skill is practice. There are no short-cut at all. It is the same for all rating’s players too. C.B.A flight’s differences are about the stability of the movement and the level of concentration. Those are all skills that can be bring to the next level of height through practice and matches.

4.The key to win competitions and the way to overcome the feeling of tension

The key to win in competition will be participating in a lot of competition. By participating in a lot of competition, you will be able to gain more and more experience which you won’t be able to gain through practice alone. As expected the atmosphere when in practice and in a competition is totally different but it is because of this that making yourself to get used to the atmosphere in a compe-tition is important. Myself is also in the midst of doing my best to get over the nervousness in a competition. (lol) When I am participating in a competition I will drink a little wee bit of alcohol to relax myself. By doing this I am able to relax thus making my movement natural and prevent the muscle from being too stiff. The most important thing will be maintaining a calm mentality when throwing the darts. You will mostly be able to hit your target in that state.

5. Do you have something to tell readers??

Not all people who have made an effort will necessarily succeed; however, all those that successes have necessarily made an effort.
